NOPC Episode 2 - Men in Dresses (women also)

Audio only version (also on spotify)

In this episode we (Richard Dubus and Lance Arnold) talk about City Park, Abita Beer, Free Haircuts, Lagniappe Dog Show, Red Dress Run and White Linen Night.

Below are links and images to those things referred to in this podcast.

    New Orleans City Park

    Abita Beer

"The Abita Brewing Company is nestled in the piney woods 30 miles north of New Orleans. In its first year, the brewery produced 1,500 barrels of beer. We had no idea what we started. Customers loved our beer! By 1994, we outgrew the original site (now our 100-seat brew pub) and moved up the road to a larger facility to keep up with demand.

We brew more than 151,000 barrels of beer and 9,100 barrels of root beer in our state-of-the-art brewing facility. Our lagers and ales are brewed in small batches, hand-crafted by a team of dedicated workers with only the highest ideals of quality.

This pride, along with our brewing process, is what creates our great brews. We are privately owned and operated by local shareholders, many who have been with us since day one."

Mercadel is aiming to complete more than 200 cuts over the two-day period. He thinks that’s doable because he can accomplish a popular cut like a bald fade “in under six minutes, like Speedy Gonzales,” he said. “It’s fast, high-quality work.”

Tulane Stadium was the home to Tulane Football from 1926 until 1974. Built on an old plantation where sugar was first granulated, the original construction cost approximately $300,000 and was made mostly from brick and concrete. As the site of the annual Sugar Bowl, Tulane Stadium was often informally referred to as "Sugar Bowl Stadium." After its expansion in the 1940's, Tulane Stadium became the largest football stadium in the south.

"We make good beer for the sake of good beer, inspired by the city we live in with a primary goal of making beer that lives up to its standards."
